BDM 226 Modelling hands

For me modelling the hands has been a challenge. I have come across the issue of hands looking flat and sausage like, because my characters hands are shown close up on screen I feel it is important that they look believable and aesthetically proportionate.


Fingers first. My first attempt created callus ridden sausages with a particularly strange looking thumb
 

The full hand also looked flat and rectangular I was not happy with this result so decided to try a different approach by using reference images.



I am happier with this final hand as the fingers are characteristic and the thumb is in a more believable position
